I walked in..and fell in Love!!

Over the past months, my house has gone through a big change. It all started at the heart of any home, our Kitchen
It's spilled into every room..we are in such a crazy transition right now! I'm crossing my fingers to have the main living space finished before summer is over!! Well at our house things are really never done!! We have now started on changing things in the family room. It all started over Father's Day weekend...hubby got a bigger TV, which meant our current armor was not going to work anymore.
This was exciting! It was a win, win!!
I've been wanting to change it ever since I seen this sweet thing...

She is a beauty, isn't she!!!
I always ok every purchase with hubby...I snapped a picture, and when hubby came home he gladly said go get it. I walked into the sweet shop and there before my eyes hung a big ole' sold tag...my heart broke...I had fallen in love!!
If you don't know me by now, one thing you should know is I am a sucker for furniture!!!
Especially if it's a piece that resembles a piece your grandparents had.

Weeks went by as week after week I would re-enter this sweet shop to find the one again..
Well this week, I was greeted by the owner and her face said it all...
She came across another one that is in the same beautiful style that the first one had.
I adore this one just as much as the first!!
And this time,
This sweet thing came home with me!!!
I've learned if you really love a piece, don't leave the store!! Hahaha

I really do like this one more..it's chunkier!
I can not wait to show you her after...stay tuned!!
..For now, enjoy your weekend y'all!!!

Love,
Naomi

Creating a getaway close to home...part 4 of 4

Hey y'all!!
How are you today? Hope you have been inspired to start your own little getaway..it may be that it's in your backyard...or maybe a part of your home that is a place you can relax and getaway from the everyday. A place to let go of your worries..a place to renew!

Thank you for joining me on this last post...well last for a little while that is!! I'm sure there will be a lot more to come with this sweet place.
Part 12 and 3

Whoohoo...it was a time for major celebration...I can whooohooo, right?!! YES!!
Hauling water, water...and more water is all good, but the day came where it was time to give that up and drill for water! I know...your thinking, what? A post on water? Oh, but water is everything when you have no water...hahaha

Hauling water, heating it, well it can get old.
It was an emotional time for me, would there be water? And when the day came to drop the pump, we were all wondering how good this well would be. A good friend of ours drilled the well and he was an encouragement throughout the process.

..the first sight of water was exciting! It didn't take long for us to see that it was really good...good enough to be able to build someday if we wanted!!! Remember my dream of a sweet white farmhouse? I know...exciting right?! The possibilities are there!!!
In my dreams anyway..hahaha

Hubby went straight to work on our second building to cover the well.

He always teaches the boys along the way...I love that!!

First thing...
Homemade showers were created for longer weekend stays...it was fun! Clotheslines were hung, sheets were added for privacy and a hose stuck in a watering can became our shower..a really really cold shower!!

I may have enjoyed this the most!!! I mean really, have you ever showered this way?
Try it...it will remind you of how spoiled we have become.

It's a pretty little well house, isn't it?!

Hubby added a tankless water heater under my little kitchen sink. There is so much joy in the ability to have hot running water!!
The outdoor bath plumbing has been started and we can now enjoy hot showers too...who doesn't like a hot shower while gazing up at the stars!! Dreamy for me...

Well this is where I leave you to dream...what will this outdoor bath be like?
How would you create it?
I dream of a claw foot tub sitting under the stars...will it happen?  :)
You never know around here.

I hope you enjoyed looking back with me!
Do you have a little getaway? I'd love to hear about it..

Love,
Naomi

Creating a getaway close to home...part 3 of 4

Hey everyone!!
Hope you are having a great start to your day!
Glad you joined me today...it's one of my favorites!
We added a big ole' porch!!

If you missed Part 1 & 2 you can find them Here and Here!

Oh I love me a good porch!
We love being outdoors. At our home you will usually find us on the back porch, we are just porch sittin' people!! Sigh...I know..this is just who I am. I get all excited!
Porches at my house are where memories are made.

Hubby is a contractor, he amazes me! He is so good at all he the things he does. We make such a good team..I dream, and he always makes those dreams a reality!
He is so good to me!!

I adore this sweet little cabin!
I'm slowly finding treasures for this porch, these chairs were a fun find that my daughter and I found one day while on a walk on this property!
Some outdoor string lights have been hung and call you to sit till the wee hrs of the night.
Many of our family and friends have enjoyed this place as a getaway for the weekend...

...and when you are a family who loves porch sittin', an old iron stove calls you so sit close by when there is a chill in the air!

We just keep dreaming and adding all the things we love to this little place! Every time we got something is changed or added.

I dream of a two story white farmhouse with a big wrap around porch sitting on one of the hills there one day...sigh..I know...I'm such a dreamer!!

The next time you take a look at a storage building, will you look at it in a new way?!
..you can really create anything your heart desires.
Are you a porch lover? What are your dreams?
Thank you for stopping in today...

Love,
Naomi

Creating a getaway close to home...part 2 of 4

Today it's time to share the fun things that went inside of this sweet getaway...

If you missed Part 1 of this 4 part series, you can find it Here!

The kitchen is the heart of every home. I decided to get an old dresser and recreate it to become our kitchen. With a metal bucket as a sink!! You can find out more the making of this piece here!

It did give us a good amount of storage, but not enough.
I decided to give up a bookshelf we already had and gave it the same finish as the dresser above. I loved the Shakespeare book pages so much that I also added them to the back of the shelves.

An old table base found months before got a new top and was also painted. I wanted it inside, but soon found out that having 6 sit at this table wasn't going to happen...so it sits sweetly outside on the porch.

I found the perfect table at a friends garage sale. It's leaves tuck in to become a square table, so if extra room is needed they can quickly be tucked in. I refinished the top, and couldn't get myself to paint it. It needed to stay the way it came.

Mismatched chairs were united in the same creamy shade of white.

An old door from our previous house called to be in my favorite shade and became our headboard.

It's a small space that fills all our needs, well almost, we are on the process of an outdoor bathroom. We are roughing it old school style!! Goal is to finish it this summer.

I need to take some new pics next time we go...the lighting on these pictures makes it hard to see. Like the old window hubby brought me years ago the hangs above the sink. Most of the thing here have been things I hoarded over the last months as we were starting this place!! I'm sure hubby is happy to have room in spaces once filled with all these treasures of mine.

The kids loft is a favorite for our kiddos...

We enjoy our time in this sweet cabin.
We grill a lot, and if needed can cook inside on a portable electric stove. Everytime we go, it takes us back to the core roots of our family, where phones don't work so well.
When family time is what family time should always be.
It's the simple life.
 I could live like that...I think!!! :)

Thanks so stopping in...

Love,
Naomi

Creating a getaway close to home...part 1 of 4

Do you have a favorite little getaway?
We do, it's our own little slice of country living close to home!!
Today, I want to share our journey through the last few years of creating this sweet place...it's been a wonderful adventure and I'm sure there will be a lot more to come!!
a lot has happened, so join me in the next few days as we look back.

..it all started with a little 12X20 storage building and a lot of land that needed clearing!!

We added electricity, and the fun began.

New windows and insulation were added first.

The ceiling was filled with panels that contained favorite sayings, and scripture!

Walls were painted a light gray and hubby added my favorite trim...I'm in love!!

We kept the grease filled plywood floors, primed them and painted black and white checked floor.

Then the sleeping areas were built to save as much space as possible. Remember 12x20 space is to fit our family of 6!! That meant a sleeping area and a kitchen/dining area all in one room. YIKES!!

The kids all fit in the loft space while our bed sits below.

There was so much to stain..which part of me wanted to drench the entire space in white, but reality is this place has lots of dirt and it's not a place where I want to spend my time cleaning all day.
Stain was a win win!!

It sure has been a fun adventure...there is a lot more to come!
Enjoy today...dream of creating your little getaway.

Love,
Naomi
