Pour a coffee & come on in..it's time for a Fall Tour!

Did you pour that cup? Over at our house, it's a beautiful FALL day!! Perfect for sipping coffee all day. Welcome to our home!!

Fall, that time where you are so ready for cooler weather. Ready to cuddle in with your favorite throws, and sip a variety of favorite hot beverages...my case just keep filling my coffee and I'm a happy girl!!

Chippy paint goodness on a sweet little bench first welcomes you to our front door. My sister made and sent me that burlap pillow a few years ago and its one of my favorites to pull out for Fall.

This year, our family gathered early for Thanksgiving...yes, we just couldn't wait any longer to spend time together!! 2 entire months early..maybe we should just call it a Fall Gathering instead. Farmer families change dates to make it available for all siblings to be able to spend family time together. My gardens cuttings became our centerpieces, which have now spilled into our home.

Our living area is small and cozy!!

Our galvanized mirror above the mantel is still one of my favorite pieces! I bought it at trade days in Fredericksburg, TX! It has the perfect amount of rust. I was told it was a lid to a chicken feeder..well that pretty much made me fall even more in love with it.

Every year I pull out our old Gather banner..it's paper, and I hope it never falls apart! My favorite morning spot is in this chair.  Although I dream of a white slip covered sofa, our leather couches have held up to some pretty crazy living for 10 plus years..they are loved and soft and you sink right in!! It's just not right if they aren't being jumped on at any given time, and at this point they serve us well!

Our Living area is filled with layered rugs, feather pillows and a coffee table that calls to have your feet on it. I like our home to be lived in!! Our space is small, yet our family of 6 can easily cozy up together in this space. I love our gallery wall filled with great memories and favorite pieces.

I've really enjoyed our clock after painting it..an inspired piece by The Nester. It had spent its last years boxed away and its a fun piece now.

In our dinning room, hubby made our giant chalkboard. It currently holds memory verses for our little ones who attend awanas. Sometimes it holds chore charts and fun doodles. I think every home should have one, or 2. This coming from a chalkboard lover!!

The chandelier above the table was a thrifting find. A bit of paint and some pretties, and it sparkles up this space!!

Our all white kitchen with butcher-block counters has my heart. I'd love a farmhouse stuck in the middle of nowhere any day! Sometimes you dream of having a place that isn't at all what you are in currently, and you just wait. Don't wait!! I'm glad I didn't!! A few gallons of paint, changing counter tops and I turned our brown generic kitchen to the one I'd always dreamt of. Yes right here in this cookie cutter neighborhood.

I believe your home should bring you joy. It should be a place you want to be. It's should be the place that makes you relax, makes you want to put up your feet, or makes you want to jump on couches!!

More of my favorites are the Eat letters made from an old fence and a collection of silver platters. Both unexpected to have side by side, yet beautiful!!

Last, welcome to where all the porch sittin' happens. We are lovers of the outdoors, and we created an area where we can lounge the most. As I've told you before, this porch can get pretty loud!! Loud is fun, and may sometimes make neighbors wish we were in that dream place in the middle of nowhere!! We love having family and friend over, and if you use the back gate to enter our home, you know you are loved here!!!

Our bar is a favorite, hubby built it after the first few years of living here. As you know galvanized metal is a favorite around here..trimmed in cedar and topped with the prettiest concrete counter top. I asked for a rustic look and he fulfilled my every wish.

Hubby is a keeper!!
I adore him and He make this place home more than anything I could pretty it up with.

Here's to more coffee...and daring to make your home your dream, no matter where its located!! Have a wonderful day!!

XOXO,
Naomi

A few Fall changes in our Bedroom!

I'm so excited for fall!!
I've started adding bits of fall into our home. No not so much with pumpkins, but instead it's throws, more feather pillows and comforters instead of quilts. Stuff to help you cuddle up a bit longer!!

I love our bedroom..I'm still madly in love with our book page wall
I adore it!
Replacing all our pillows with feather pillows has been so fun. They fluff up so wonderfully. Why haven't I done this long ago?!  These 26x26 from Ikea are my new favorites and made simple covers for them.
I'm in the process of changing up curtains in here too. I'll share those with you once they are done and up.

For fall, I've decided to layer our bed a bit. I've collected some amazing table cloths over the past few years and decided to pull out one of my favorites to layer over our white comforter.

It's such a simple easy way to change your look. This is why I'm simply in love with whites!!
Our bedroom are usually the last rooms, right?! Not this year..our bedroom was first to get cozier. I can't wait to share more on our Fall spaces!!

Thanks for hanging out a bit, it's a rainy fall day here...all I wanna do is grab a book and another coffee!!

 Xoxo,
Naomi

When The Nester inspires..

If you don't follow The Nester, you are missing out!
I adore everything about her!!
Her motto: it doesn't have to be perfect to be beautiful.
She encourages to embrace the homes we are in.
She inspires..she loves the imperfect, perhaps my favorite thing!!
She wrote The Nesting Place, which is a book full of not only inspiration pictures, it's full of great advice to love the home, rental or not.

I ohhhed and awwwed over her clock way before her book came out.
I'd been dreaming of transforming a clock that was given to us for out first Christmas from hubby's parents.
It's a treasure, yet didn't fit the look I was going for..so it stayed tucked away in a box.

I was afraid to change it.
So many times we stop right there.
Afraid!
Afraid to hurt the giver..I know it stopped me from this little makeover for years!
Then I realized, it's still that same sweet gift, but I'll love it all the more.
I asked hubby, he has learned that little projects like this bring me joy and he didn't mind at all with me painting it.
Some would say pieces like this are meant to stay..yet, why, if it's hidden in a box for no one to enjoy?

Last week, as I was flipping through her book once again, I remembered our clock tucked away.
It was time..it was time to not be afraid.
I knew we would love it.
So I pulled it out and started.
There were a few ohhhh, what am I doing?
Will my mother-in-love be hurt?
Will she love it?
 Am I destroying our treasure?

I love it, hubby loves it and it's the quirky part my kids giggled over.
It's full of fun and brings sweet joy!!

It's no longer in a box, tucked away.
It's being appreciated like it should.
So many times, it's treasured pieces like this, that make you afraid to change them.
I'm so glad I did!!
All back to The Nester motto: it doesn't have to be perfect to be beautiful!!

Do you have treasures hidden away?
I hope this inspires you to reconsider the ones tucked away. The ones you would love even more if you weren't afraid..

Thanks for stopping in,

Naomi

She didn't pick PINK!?

Remember that little girls room that got fresh crisp white paint?
Also remember that one wall I did a color wash on to lighten the bright pink way back in March?
Ya..it's no more!!
It drove me crazy..so we painted it white too. Yes..if you don't like it, just paint it white has become the thing to do..oh help me!! Where did the time go?
I also realize that this poor little princess has waited a long time for me to finish her sweet room!!!

Last week we went to pick paint for her dresser. I finally figured it out! Just do it..she will love it no matter what. I thought she would pick something pink for sure. She surprised me with Valspar Sea Kiss. It's such a pretty color!!

I have had a lot of you asking me how I refinish my pieces.
I like simple!!
One of the reasons I love liquid deglosser so much is that it is so simple. No sanding required!!

A good wipe down is all you need!

I LOVE this dresser!
It's part of a set Hubby bought me when we first got married from a friends garage sale. I am still completely giddy about these pieces! They are made so well, and will probably outlive me!

Can we talk about color samples for a bit?! I LOVE THEM..for under $3, I painted this entire dresser and had left over paint! Ya..$3!! You don't need to have a lot of money to be able to make your pieces pretty again, or even change them up as your taste changes.

I'm constantly changing things in our home. It's what I love..thrift store, distressed, make all things pretty kind of junkie! I wake up dreaming of creating, and go to bed the same. Samples are great for any project.
You also know, my sander is never too far away and sometimes I use blades to distress too.

Last, I finish with wax...wax on, wax off!
I've used it for many years, and its protected all our pieces really well.

I leave you with a sneak peek of our progress.
I've collected vintage floral sheets for a while now and hung one of my favorites for curtains.
Love this!
I have a giddy little girl, which makes me giddy!! Haha..I love having a girl!

Be blessed sweet friends!!
Love,
Naomi

Thank you Summer!!

This morning I sit here in the quietness of our back porch, amazed how fast our summer went!! Didn't it just start?!!

It's the first day of another school year. Everyone was up early with the excitement of another new year! Oh I pray this year is the BEST ONE YET for each of our kids!

As I look back, we had a great summer filled with church camps, our first cousin camp and trips to see our families. We also lounged A LOT!! We were down right bums most days. Way to many movies were watched, countless pool days, and too much icecream was eaten!  I'm not sure we even know what a schedule is anymore.

I know one thing, I'm so thankful for all those sweet moments!! I'm blessed..

So as we begin another year, my prayer once again..

I will miss you sweet Summer!!

Xoxo

Our ever changing Stools!

These stools are probably gonna live with us forever!!
Do you have some like this?
They are simple and they have held up to some pretty crazy things in this house!
I purchased them from Walmart many years ago and came in a natural finish.
Since then, they have been red, then turquoise, and now a new Black!!
Today I want to share them with you because I'm really loving them!!!

Painted in a basic black, I then added a stencil I'd used a few times already to add some numbers. They are a basic stencil made with my Cricut. Painted the numbers with leftover white paint, then went crazy distressing them to reveal all the previous colors!!

How fun are they?
A little paint to make old stools feel new again.
I love them!!
Once I achieved the right amount of distressed areas, I simply waxed them.
Thats it...so simple and easy!

The power of paint on 2 little stools that needed to be loved a bit longer!!

Have a great day!

Love,
Naomi

My Sweet Sisters Gardens..come and dream with me!

Hey y'all...welcome!
If you've been following along on Instagram
you know this past weekend was filled with Celebrations!
Two of my nephews graduated on the same day, in different towns. We decided to attend ones graduation and the other ones party.

HELLO!
PARTY AT SISTERS!!

My Sister and her hubby can throw some celebrations!! Let me just stop right here and tell you a bit about them. They truly believe in celebrating life, and I promise, their kids will never forget their Grad parties! Their Grad even said " I hope no one knows how to leave". That tells you a bit about their celebrations!! #celebratelife
Every detail is thought of and it's just so sweet to see the joy behind it all!
As promised, today I welcome you to come peek into her beautiful outdoor spaces.
Come and dream with me...

My sister and her gardens!
LOVE
Her yard is filled with treasures..every which way you look, you find new spaces calling you to come and explore. Do you see it?! Remember Priscilla bought the second church pew?

We giggled our hearts out, right there! Tic-tac-toe on a tree stump waiting to be played with...her grandson painted those sweet rocks, which makes them such great treasures.
I love it all..its so happy!!

Her hubby Pete can cook!!
If you've never had his pepper blend (Petes hot stuff), you need to get some. It's so good! We all pretty much know that when Pete says he's cooking, we won't leave hungry.

An old chandelier became new again with added color, which now sits above a table for 2, just begging you to come sit and sip your morning coffee.

Each way you look, her gardens are filled with fun things that make you linger longer! I love going to visit..usually the first thing we do is head outside to go explore her gardens and see what is new.
Just so fun!! She had her galvanized pond many years before me, I finally couldn't take it any longer and just had to copy her..ha, joys of being the baby sister!!

Then there is her veggie garden..each corner is marked with these sweet buckets from World Market that are spilling with her fun mix of flowers..

Then last we have her White garden, which she added last year.
It's filled with some of her favorite white flowers..this is where you enter to come to their celebrations..and when the sun has set, lights strung show you the way into the back yard, the heart of their home!

A reclaimed bowl sitting on top of a tree stump has become a bath for the birds that visit.

The rocker which sits in her white garden..she painted it purple, which was her daughters favorite color.
I love that she celebrates her life in things we remember her most by..her love of purple has our entire family remembering her just by seeing it!!
Her parsley began to bloom and she just giggled at how she just had to let it bloom "nobody ever lets their parsley bloom! Wondering why not cause its soo cute!"...joy as it's peeking in and out around this sweet rocker...sigh!

Her containers were already spilling with pretty flowers..and they just keep getting bigger. I brought her some blackberry bushes and as we planted them, she just kept praying blessing over them. Her heart, I really love her..she is so special to me..today is her sweet birthday.

So here is to you my Sweet Sister
You inspire me daily.
Your encouraging words always stay with me.
You are my BEST friend,
and I know the miles between us won't ever change that!
Thank you for just being you.
Thank you for all our every 5 minute calls!
 Thank you for endless giggles!
Thank you for making all our has to be pretty oh so fun..
I hope your day has been filled with so much joy & so much love!
Happy Birthday Priscilla!!
I love you!

Xoxo,
Naomi
