Let's bring life to another light, shall we?!

...I found another great one while thrifting!
Don't let brass scare you...
Paint, I LOVE PAINT!!
Although, this one was harder to rewire (someone decided to let it sit outside)..the inside was rusted and getting new wire put in was no easy task!  Thankful hubby did that for me...he likes a good challenge!
I heart him!!
Like a lot!

Although, I liked the lighting that I had, I loved this chandelier more!!
I used Rust-oleum Metallic in an oil rubbed bronze finish. I just cleaned it up and went straight to painting it.

I have more plans for this one..more to come on that!!! :)
Some "pretties" are waiting to arrive..so excited, I thought I had ordered enough,  not at all!!
...so as I wait, I'll make you wait along side of me!
That's fair, right?!!

Here is the light I refinished before this one..you can find more on it HERE.

And here is the new repurposed light!!
Our hardware is all in an aged bronze, so it just makes more sense to keep the  lighting in the same finish.

wait..I know, it's NOT DRENCHED IN WHITE?!!

I love it already..so until the "pretties" arrive, here is the before stage!!

Paint...the things it can do!
Have a great day!!
Hope you are encouraged to look at something old and unloved, and make it great again!

Love,
Naomi

Bookpage wall and $4 lamps got an update !

Sunday was a lounge day for all of us around here.

I love days like that!!

Hubby was napping, and kids were all playing and giggling amongst each other.
I was craving a crafty project..and a book page wall had been on my mind for awhile already, so I pulled out a romantic poem book I had bought just for craft projects.

I simply stapled them to the wall, layering them over one another. Something romantic about love words all over your bedroom wall, and it's something that can easily be changed.

 I love projects like that!

A while back I scored these lamps for $4 each, a little spray paint, new burlap shades and I think they are enjoying their new home.

A quick, fun and easy project!!

Naomi

Our Fall Mantel and Will You Join Me In Being Thankful For 40 Days?!!

Good Morning Friends!
...This season, isn't it so wonderful?!

I want to say it's my favorite season!
I may also say that with every change of any season..hahaha!

A season when we all look at what we are thankful for!
A season where families become closer than ever, and gather together to celebrate.
A season where we are all reminded to look around at what we are Thankful for!

My Friend Tisha from On The Wings of Gratitude started 40 days of Thankfulness.
This is the 6th year!! We begin tomorrow, Oct 7th!!

Will you join me?

40 days of sharing what you are thankful for?
I promise, it will bless you!
Get all the details Here.

I'm excited to start, this will be my 5th year!
There are amazing things that happen once you start paying attention to what you are thankful for!
It has been so healing for me, a big part in overcoming anxiety which robbed me of many years.

Thankfulness can change the world, I tell you!!!

Love,
Naomi

How I Refinished My Sewing Table!

Today I want to share with you a step by step one of my latest pieces.
I bought this sweet sewing machine and it's orangey stain was screaming to be changed...
I debated on a light yellow, or creamy white, and
in the end white won my heart again! It's an addiction I tell you!!

Before and After!

I cleaned it really well with a deglosser and taped off areas and spray painted away.

Then recovered the stool in a fabric I already had as well.
Now it could have been ready for wax at this point, but you know me...
I'm a distressing junkie!!

I discovered a razor blade is a fast fun way of taking paint off..
WARNING...be careful please!! Go slow, you can cut ridges in your furniture or worse yet cut yourself. SLOW!

My paint was dry to the touch when I began to scrape the paint.
Just play with your piece till you like the amount taken off.
Enjoy...no dust from sanding!!

When you've reached the right amount you want to remove, finish your piece with a coat or two of wax. I usually do two coats on areas with extra use, such as tops.

So goodbye orange..hello to more whites!! Now to stage this little area...

Thanks for stopping in, go paint something...it's not hard at all!
Enjoy your weekend!!!

Love,
Naomi

A Quiet Moment..

..in time, Fall is once again here!

TIME stand still for just a bit longer...RIGHT?!

It's been a year since I first started to blog, and I can't believe how much has changed in a year.
Our home went from color everywhere to clean white spaces.
Any of you decided to jump on this Whites trend?

It's been a fun journey!!
A place that relaxes us..it's HOME!

There is so much I want to share!
I'm learning all too well that we are not in control of what our days are going to be like.
There have been a lot of unexpected struggles over the last few months, and yet looking back I feel more blessed than ever before!!

James 4:14 says..
What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.

This has been on my heart..What is my life?

What is my life?
What is yours?

I pray that in this journey..all the fun that comes with creating, that our homes will always be a place where family and friends can come enjoy one another. To live in our journey that brings honor to HIM!

For we are only a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes...

Love,
Naomi
