What is it about old Buildings?

When you you see an old broken down building...do you catch yourself wanting to go explore it?
I always do!!

This past weekend, I had the opportunity peek around this sweet building.

The walls..sigh!
The perfect old world patina..although the bees in the walls, well..they kept me from going in!!

Along with the idea that I would fall through these floors and snakes were probably living all over this place!!

All this and I still had to keep snapping pics. What is it about old buildings?
My imagination takes me wondering who lived here or what it's purpose was.

I happened to find this sign above one of the doors..No. 1997...sigh..a number dear to my heart, the year we married! Now my heart wants to ask the owner if I could have it..I can see it added to our gallery wall. Can't you? Or maybe a tag on a sweet basket?

I loved every moment of wondering around this sweet building..

Yep...it sure has my heart, along with every old building that I come across!

Thrifting!!

My mother-in-law came to stay with me for a day...she was chatting with me about wanting to find a particular piece for an auction in an upcoming family reunion. Well, you know me, I offered to take her to some of my favorite thrift shops in town to help her find what she was looking for.

My first stop was our local ReStore..3 steps in and I knew I was once again going to be walking out with a great find!! This mirror was a score at $20! We didn't find what she was looking for until stop #5...but we did find it!! If you have never gone thrifting, you are missing out!!

When thrift store shopping, you know you will usually have something that not everyone else has and talk about great prices! You can refinish and play around with your finds and you if things just don't turn out, you don't lose out on a lot of money.

Some pieces just need a little work to make them become something great again! This piece took me less than an hour to refinish and I think it will look great above our Mantel!!

Here is another after...not bad for a bit of paint!

Enjoy your day and go do some thrift shopping for me!!

Love,
Naomi

Oh you know...more drenching in Whites!

Remember This piece?

...this is what it looks like now! All drenched in my favorite creamy shade...Cream in my coffee!

I adore this piece!!

I finished this piece pretty much the same way I usually do...Clean and wipe it down with a deglosser, then painted it.

A bit of distressing with my sander, and finished it with a coat of wax.
Super simple and didn't take me too long at all.

Part of me wants to distress it more...maybe soon?!  I'm trying to hold back on it for now, just let it be...it's an addiction!! It's still a complete surprise to me that my kitchen cabinetry hasn't been added to the list! Somebody stop me..

...and if you follow Has to be Pretty on instagram, you have seen that this addiction continues!!

...more to come on this pretty find!!

Have a great day!!

Love,
Naomi

Filling them empty White Dining Walls...

If you follow me on Instagram, you know hubby received another honey do list..
This one involved helping me get materials for this sweet chalkboard!!
I love love love chalkboards..if my walls didn't have a texture, I would have painted this entire wall!
Hubby brought me a 4x8 sheet of Masonite, which I gave 3 coats of chalkboard paint. He trimmed it out  in a few 1x4's which I stained in walnut.

My mama had a chalkboard hanging in our dining room during my childhood years, which she had filled with scripture for us to memorize..I LOVE THAT!

Little one has gotten his share of chalk over the last few days too!
I also made and added some 4th of July bunting to hang throughout the house.

Another favorite in this room are my curtains!
I hung my vintage chenille bedspreads!
I love the unexpected, if you haven't noticed..haha.

My final dining wall is tall and I had been dreaming of making these EAT letters for this wall.

I fell in love with them the first time I spotted them on Pinterest, along with all of you, I'm sure!
You can read all about hers HERE
When our recent weather contained a whole lot of wind, and part of our fence needed to be replaced, I knew it would be perfect to recreate them for our space.

I love this space and this drenching in whites phase.
Some have said I'm crazy to go to whites with 4 little ones, and for me it's actually been easier!
Love it!!!
I hope you enjoy your day...thanks for stopping in!

Love,
Naomi
